The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents authorized Chancellor John Sharp and Texas A&M President R. Bowen Loftin, PhD, on August 3, 2012, to take any and all action necessary to investigate and pursue bringing Texas A&M Health Science Center under the administration of Texas A&M University.
Such a move presents an opportunity for Texas A&M to utilize its unique, statewide presence to offer Texas a new model in higher education that blends general academics and health-related institutions into one, highly effective entity capable of meeting today's major public health challenges.

The site also offers a vehicle for visitors to submit feedback and recommendations directly to the Strategic Oversight Committee that is charged with developing a transition timeline and addressing the associated challenges and opportunities.
While a significant undertaking such as this will undoubtedly be complex, this realignment holds great promise to benefit our students, faculty, and staff through the strategic prioritization of Texas A&M's resources. Additionally, the State of Texas and its citizens will ultimately benefit by the merging of two institutions that are currently leading the way in biomedical education and discoveries.
